Rise Up! Poetry at the Bluebird Bakery, York
Deborah was delighted to be invited, along with Laura Strickland, to support Forward Prize-winning poet Kim Moore at Bluebird Bakery's Rise Up! poetry night in Acomb, York. It was a sold-out show, with 60+ people enjoying a great night of poetry (and some delicious baked goods - with a sourdough loaf as an extra for all guest poets!).
Rise Up! is run by Liz Chadwick Pywell and Nicky Kippax, both fantastic writers as well curators and hosts of this wonderful event series.
Headliner Kim Moore was incredible, treating the audience to new poems as well as work from her Forward Prize winning book 'All The Men I Never Married' (Seren). Kim is also the author of 'Are You Judging Me Yet? Poetry and Everyday Sexism' which is an excellent read. Deborah has long been a fan of Kim's work so it was an honour to be able to share the stage with her.
All in all, a great trip to Yorkshire and a chance to catch up with poetry friends.
